Resume on Nicola Illuzzi

Nicola Illuzzi (1988) is a professor, sculptor and a visual artist, sculptor Grazia Savoia‘s husband. He expresses as a child a natural predisposition for art through the uncountable drawings and artistic creations. He was, therefore, directed to cultivate this interest enrolling at the Art Institute of Bari, where he received a Diploma in Architecture. During that time he also developed skills in a sculpting studio. At the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Sculpture. In 2015 he studied at the Art Students League in New York, and at the Newington-Cropsey Foundation Academy of Art, where he collaborated with sculptors Greg Wyatt and Joseph Petrovics. The materials used are mainly stone, plaster, clay, resin and polyurethane foam and the works he obtains appear to lack an apparent identity where the meaning goes beyond their body and spiritual content. Also the work experiences deeply marked his reflection on the theme of figurative that slowly changes towards a more conceptual culture. The knowledge of new artistic trends together with experience of numerous exhibitions and international competition held over the years, some held in Rome, New York and Barcelona, have helped to increase his artistic and professional growth. Currently he is professor of Sculpture and Artistic Director at the Arts High School in Pistoia (Tuscany).
